RTK vs LiDAR Robot Mower: Which Navigation Wins?

Pick LiDAR if your yard has trees, tall hedges or buildings close to the lawn. Pick RTK if the lawn is open to the sky. If your budget allows, a hybrid that uses both is the safest bet, because each covers the other's weak spot.
How RTK works
RTK mowers fix their position from satellites, corrected by a reference signal. That signal comes from an antenna you mount in the yard or from a network service. Accuracy is excellent with open sky and drops under tree cover or beside tall walls.

How LiDAR works
LiDAR mowers scan their surroundings with a laser and build a map from what they see. They don't need the sky, so shaded yards and narrow side passages work fine. They do need recognizable features nearby, so a wide open field gives them less to lock onto.
